Whisk is an independent baking magazine. However its not what you would expect, aimed at anyone with a passion for home baking, amateurs, or professionals, Whisk explores the latest, weirdest trends and recipes. From healthy, vegan, to ambitious, quirky bakes.
Whisk contains striking visuals and bold colours using a combination of illustrations and photography that show case the craft of baking and encourage people to try new things. Additionally it highlights what is hot on the market, from strange ingredients to gadgets and creations that are available to buy. The content of this magazine includes recipes, anecdotal stories, lists, interviews, top tips and more.
Physically, Whisk is a relatively small magazine, with dimensions 230mm by 190mm and a spine width of 10mm. Whisk is put together using kettle stitch binding with the cover glued on. Sewing allows the magazine to be opened wide and stay in position, this is ideal for home baking as it can be left on the table or held in one hand. Whisk has been made to a high standard with a smooth finish and pages that are soft to the touch. The masthead also has a spot UV varnish to make it stand out as the glossy finish means it catches the light and stands forward from the rest of the cover.
Alongside the magazine itself I designed a pitch document with the intention to explain and promote the magazine and its unique design and features.
